Produced by local artisans to an authentic recipe. Kithul Palm Jaggery is an all natural sweetener made of young sap simmered down to a thick soft paste that is easily soluble and extra sweet. It’s creamy and spreadable on toast or can be broken-up into bite sized semi-solid blocks to be enjoyed with a cup of strong tea.

Kithul is propagated by the natural dispersion of seed (mainly Civet Cats) in the highlands of Sri Lanka and densely forested natural reserves. Scientifically known as Caryota Urens the “Fish-Tail Palm” is a native rain-forest species of tropical Asia and grown widely in rural forest gardens of Sri Lanka as a staple source of nutrition.

Kithul Palm Jaggery is rich in Calcium, Mineral compounds, Vitamins and Iron. It’s anti-oxidant and anti-hyperglycemic properties are legendary – having a low Glycemic Index (>35) it’s administered in the control of blood-sugar in diabetic patients and is an organic form of dietary fibre.
